Team World interviewed Bill Kaulitz of Tokio Hotel:
I will be in Milan for Fashion Week

Team World reached Bill Kaulitz by phone, who with Tokio Hotel are expected in Italy in late March with two stages of the Dream Machine World Tour 2017.

During our chat, Bill told us that he will reach Milan during Fashion Week scheduled February 22 to 27 and that during the highly anticipated tour, the band will perform a song from the very first album.

Each album is very different from the previous and witnessing continuous development of sound, text, speech. What should we expect from Dream Machine?

We started from last album, talking about sound is like a journey that started with Kings of Suburbia but is much more surreal and a little ‘more free, the previous album was definitely much more commercial than this. I truly believe that this is the most beautiful album we’ve ever done, are only 10 songs and we were only four of us in the studio. It ‘a bit’ nostalgic and brought us back to when we were in the rehearsal room, just the four of us.

Is there any artist in particular that inspired you for this album?

I can not take inspiration from anything else that is not my life. My lyrics are always very personal and relate experiences that I have experienced first hand. I write about what I care about. From the musical side so no, no inspiration. For the visual instead it took inspiration from movies and TV series, but also from travel. I love travel, I love to visit new places and see different cultures. I let myself be inspired by so many things, but there is no particular artist. I have a band that at the moment I love, they call LANY and are from California. They are cool. I also love Madeon and I think Tove Lo is very smart. I like different artists.

You are about to start your European tour and will return to Italy, do you think you’ll have some ‘free time to enjoy Milan and Rome?

I love Milan and Rome. To be sure I will be in Milan for Fashion Week even before beginning the tour. I can not wait! I believe that Milan is striking for several reasons, including fashion, I love and of which I am passionate. I can not wait to see some fashion show. I love Italy in general, it is one of my favorite countries. I love the food, the food is my favorite in the world and I love people. I think the Italians are beautiful, everyone seems to have come out of a Vogue magazine, the people are beautiful inside and out. I love the mentality, I always feel welcome.

Can you tell us something about the show that nobody knows?

We sing a very old song from our first album, which we do not play live for over ten years.

You started making music when even Facebook, and all other social platforms did not exist.
What is your relationship now with social networks?

We’ve started to like it more and more. I really like Instagram, I find it very mine because it is based mainly on images. You can create your story and share it directly with your fans and friends, this thing I really like. The appearance favorite of social media is that everything is very immediate, you can control what monsters to people and is a way to feel closer to my audience, is very nice.

You were among the first to use YouTube as a means of communication with your fans through the Tokio Hotel TV.
How important do you think show loyal fans something more about your lives?

I think it’s a great way to show who we are and how we work, what we like, simply by us as people. I think it’s also support the album and our artistic side, but also shows a more personal side of the audience probably does not know, and I like that.

You grew up with your fans. What kind of relationship you have with them?
And how much has changed over the years?

I think we all have a few more wrinkles. * Laughs * We are all a bit ‘bigger and some fans have really grown with us. There have been from the beginning, continue to come to our shows and it’s nice. It ‘a bit’ as a way of life that we share with them. As if Tokio Hotel had this lifestyle that we have with fans and leading them on the road, living their lives with us. We’re like a big family and I feel that we are really connected.

Several songs dealt with the theme of freedom. You feel free both artistically and personally?

Completely. I believe we are in the best moment of our lives, we finally have total control over our artistic side and on our lives, where we live and what we do. It was now, especially as regards the creative part, we are in the best point of always. At last we can let out what we had in a long time, it’s beautiful.

Last question. Talk about the future: What can your fans expect after Dream Machine?

Who knows! We are currently finalizing preparations for the tour, I think we’ll be on tour for the rest of the year. We will come back to America and we will go a bit ‘around the world, we will play in some festivals. I do not know what will happen next, Tom and I have to finish our book, we will write a little ‘more this year. We will certainly continue to make music, Tom always works in new music then no doubt will come back immediately in the studio. There are other projects, including a documentary about the band that will be released this year. It ‘a beautiful full year!
