The band’s label confirms to PEOPLEmag that Kaulitz will be well enough to perform on May 3 at the Bamboozle festival at the Meadowlands in East Rutherford, NJ.
May 3rd, 2008. Less than two weeks after German rock band Tokio Hotel was forced to cancel their sold-out tour while lead singer Bill Kaulitz underwent vocal chord surgery, the band was scheduled to perform at the Bamboozle Festival 2008 concert.
Doctors removed a cyst from the bands frontman Bill Kaultiz’s vocal chords, and then ordered the singer to complete silence for 10 days. The surgery was successful. The band’s label confirms that Kaulitz will be well enough to perform on May 3 at the Bamboozle festival at the Meadowlands in East Rutherford, NJ.
At Saturday night now the Magdeburger stood with his three bandmates, on stage in New Jersey. At the “Bamboozle-festival” – the first performance after the operation. Because of the still prescribed voice cord-rest Tokio Hotel only played three songs. “Ready Set Go”, “Break Away”, & “Monsoon”.

Even though, the US-album wasn’t released yet,
“4000 fans stood in front of the stage and could sing every song along by heart”, band-manager David Jost says.
“Bill seemed to be pretty impatient and tensed up before the performance, but when he stood on stage, all the anxiety was forgotten”.
The Bamboozla Festival in New Jersey performed already celebs like the Rolling Stones, Prince and Nirvana. Now the American rapper Snoop Dogg stood on stage before the Magdeburger. A full blood musician, who looked at the German newcomers with interest for sure.
Also playing the festival: Snoop Dogg, Gym Class Heroes, and Panic at the Disco.
The performance came just three days before the band released their first English language CD, Scream, in the U.S.
